Payment for Tutoring

Payment for Tutoring

Depending on your UBC, UNBC, or UVic faculty appointment, and your individual work agreement with these universities, you may be eligible for payment for CBL Tutoring.

Please contact your local Program Assistant for more information about payment.

If you know you have a clinical appointment you can refer to the compensation terms here: (Clinical Faculty Compensation Terms) (effective July 2022)

Clinical and Adjunct teaching is tracked via :  Teaching Tracking and Payment System (TTP)

You will also find your compensation rates in the Departmental offer letter issued on your appointment.

Parking and Public Transit Reimbursement

You are eligible for reimbursement of parking costs during CBL tutorials and tutor meetings, and public transit to and from these tutorials and meetings. You must provide original parking and transit receipts to claim this reimbursement.

Please contact your local Program Assistant for more information about parking and transit reimbursement.

Attendance Policy for CBL

A number of students are electing to be absent from scheduled educational activities for personal reasons e.g. attend family celebrations, hockey tournaments etc. The UBC Faculty of Medicine policy allows three personal days for leaves of absences in such cases (three days per academic year), and students may approach you for support and guidance on the material missed. Doing so would be your personal choice, but note that a) the onus is on such students to gain the required competencies though other means and b) tutors / clinical preceptors are not obliged to offer individualized support sessions.
